Steve Austin may have bid adieu to the ring, but his athletic spirit remains indomitable. Since his second retirement in 2022, the WWE Hall of Famer has kept himself busy in his passion projects, which includes his love for racing. He has been vocal about his racing career and even admitted to being a novice in the early days. As Austin begins this new chapter of his life, he drops a major update much to the delight of the fans.
In a recent post on his Instagram on October 14, 2024, Austin was delighted to announce that he has won the first place in his division at the Gold Rush 350. The caption underneath it reads, “First place in my division at the Gold Rush 350. This win should also win my division in @valleyoffroadracingassociation It was a helluva season. Next race is Rage at the River. Many thanks to Shane Kisman”
“I wish I would've found the sport of racing sooner,” asserts Steve Austin
Austin has been candid about his newfound love for off-road racing. In a recent interview with Forbes, he spoke about how nervous he felt during his first few races. “I was nervous as a longtail cat in a room full of rocking chairs for those first couple of races. As you would be. Now, there's not that nervousness, there's that anticipation. I'm still green, I am green, but I started off greener than grass just like I did in my wrestling career,” stated Austin.
He went on to relay the importance of practice, physical training and determination to reach the ending line ahead of all others. He declared, “I take a lot of pride in my physical conditioning. When conditions get bad, I'm ready for 'em. On that side of things, I don't know that there's anybody out there that can beat me.”
Speaking on his love for the sport Austin concluded, “It is never too late and better late than never. I've been around for a long time, but I wish I would've found the sport of racing sooner than I did.” It appears that the
WWE legend is all set to make his mark in the world of motorsports as well, and is determined to keep going till he achieves even more spectacular career milestones.
